Best Vineyards in Long island and Best Wineries in Long Island
Pro Tip: Most of the best wineries in Long Island are open all year long but do check their websites for more information. Typically, these amazing places will be most crowded throughout the warm summer months. Therefore, I’d probably try to visit in either the spring or fall since the weather is still nice and the crowds aren’t as intense. Winter is also a decent time to stop by, although the vineyards won’t be as lush and picturesque and any/all events will be indoors.
1. Macari Vineyards
Initially started in 1995, this locally-run vineyard in Long Island is known for its ample outdoor seating, chic tasing room, and amazing wine.
And with locations in Mattituck and Cutchogue, it’s now easier than ever to do a luxurious tasting at one of the best vineyards in Long Island.
In fact, their gorgeous, 500-acre, waterfront farm features stellar views of the Long Island Sound and hosts a variety of special events like a five-course wine dinner at Cowfish Restaurant and The Macari Barrel Experience, a wine tasting in their wine cellar that includes a sample of their “Horses” sparkling Petit Verdot and a flight of five newly released wines.
Although, you can always just stop by their Mattituck tasting room and do a chic, three-wine tasting experience for $40 per person instead.
Not only will you get to sample their Sauvignon Blanc “Lifeforce” 2020, Rosé 2020, and Dos Aguas red blend 2017, but you’ll also get to nibble on two types of cheeses, charcuterie, and local sourdough bread.
Pro Tip: Time your visit right you can see one of the best Lavender Fields in New York while you’re here Also, try their 2020 “Horses” sparkling Petit Verdot and their 2019 Cab Franc” Lifeforce”. You can also check out some of the best bakeries in Long Island too.

2. Baiting Hollow Farm and Vineyard
Located around 77 miles from the city is this cute little vineyard in Calverton. It’s known for having a super cool tasting house that sits inside a fully renovated farmhouse from 1861 and that features live music for you to enjoy.
It’s also not a huge place, but it’s a laid back winery where you can hang out in “The Backyard” and play lawn games, make use of their Wine-a-Rita frozen drink machine, try one of their wines from the 8 station tap, chow down on gourmet pizza/pretzels from the on-site food truck, or just relax at one of 15 shaded picnic tables.
Beer and cider are also available if you don’t want to do their four wine flight and you CANNOT bring outside food in because they will 100% check your bag before you enter.
Pro Tip: Be sure to sample their hard cider since it’s pretty good too!

5. Channing Daughters
Channing Daughters is one of the small and yet popular vineyards in Long Island. This cool vineyard is popular because despite its small size, it grows more than two dozen different varieties of grapes. More varieties of grapes automatically translates into more varieties of wine. People love that they can get so many varieties of locally grown wine here.
Since the demand is so high, their 28 acres can’t provide for it all. That is why they source some of their grapes from other local farms in the neighborhood.
I think one of the reasons why people love this vineyard is because of their eye for detail. From handpicking and selecting their grapes to foot stomping to make the wine, everything is meticulously planned and executed. This obviously is reflected in the quality of their wine. You can see how it has made its name as one of the best vineyards in Long Island.
Pro Tip: If you want a tasting experience, you need to book your slot 7 days in advance. They do have limited seating as they only book small groups of maximum 6 people. It is a fun experience with everyone seated on the patio, enjoying the variety of wines provided.

6. Osprey’s Dominion
One of the best wineries in Long Island that has been planting grapes since 1983, this impressive estate now has upwards of 90 acres of Carmenere, Pinot Gris, and Sauvignon Blanc that are grown in the heart of Peconic, Long Island.
So, stop by today for a relatively low-key, hands-off tasting experience inside their expansive tasting room. In fact, it features stunning, large floor-to-ceiling windows that directly overlook the rolling hills of the vineyard.
If you want, you can even bring a nifty little picnic lunch, or try some guacamole, hummus, or provolone/salami while listening to live music on the weekend all summer long.
Pro Tip: Make a reservation since this is one of the best vineyards in Long Island that can get quite crowded. Also, be sure to try their sangria, mulled wine (great in the fall/winter while sitting next to a fire pit), and their 2014 Chardonnay.

9. McCall Wines
McCall wines started out in 2007 and has taken the market by storm. Their products include pinot noir and cabernet franc. If you live in Long island and are a connoisseur of wine, you will know that these wines are pretty rare in the region because few vineyards grow these grapes. McCall wines specialize in growing Pinot noir and Cabernet Franc grapes and this how they made their name in the wine market.
McCall wines also has other wines on sale like chardonnay and sauvignon blanc. Plus, they sell some gorgeous roses!
Pro Tip: If you are headed to McCall wines, check out their special events. One of the popular events that I love is the burger nights. They have these every Thursday and Friday between 4 and 8pm irrespective of the season.
They pair their own grass fed burgers with the perfect wines. The event has a pretty laid back vibe and is perfect for a social night with friends. Oh and if you have a sweet tooth, don’t forget to try the homemade cookies.
